Foreign worker eligibility requirement
- have a valid temporary work permit (TWP) or student visa, if in Canada at the time of the application;
- not be a refugee claimant, visitor or be under implied status;
- have a guaranteed job offer in Yukon that meets the economic demand and other criteria for nomination;
- provide proof of qualifying work experience:
- Critical Impact Worker Program. You need at least 6 months of full-time relevant work experience over the 10-year period before the date of your Yukon Nominee Program application; or
- Skilled Worker Program. You need at least 12-months full-time relevant work experience over the 10-year period before the date of your Yukon Nominee Program application.
- show you meet the language requirements for the skill level of the position. Language requirements can be found in the Application Handbook; and
- intend to live in Yukon and apply to the Government of Canada for permanent residence within 3 to 6 months of starting work.
Yukon Skilled Worker Stream
The employer-driven Yukon Skilled Worker stream helps Yukon employers find the workers they need, if they are unable to find a candidate with the right skills for the job.
Employers can apply to the Skilled Worker stream if the position they are hiring for falls in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) A, 0 or B categories
Eligibility process
- Employer must advertise the position locally and nationally for at least four weeks and prove that no qualified Canadian Citizen or Permanent Residents applied
- Employer must offer a full-time, permanent position to the eligible foreign national
- Employer and the foreign national complete the Yukon Nominee Program Application
The employer submits the application to the YNP, which states that a complete application takes approximately 12 to 14 weeks to process. If an application to the Yukon Skilled Worker stream is approved, the foreign national receives nomination and a letter of support for a temporary work permit application.
Yukon Critical Impact Worker Stream
Employers can apply to the Skilled Worker stream if the position they are hiring for falls in the National Occupational Classification (NOC) C or D categories.

Yukon Business Nominee Program
The Yukon Business Nominee program targets entrepreneurs looking to establish a new business in Yukon or purchase an existing business in the territory.
Eligibility requirements
In addition to the factors on the self-assessment grid, potential applicants must also:
- Applicant must score at least 65 points on the rid to apply
- Intend to live permanently in Yukon, with dependents if applicable, while managing and investing in the Yukon-based business
- Hold a position in the business classified as level 0 or A of the National Occupational Classification (NOC);
- Have not yet purchased or started the business at the time of applying.
- Prove that their liquid assets and net worth were obtained legally, as verified by a Yukon accounting firm; and
- Demonstrate how they will invest at least $300,000 in capital investments for the business in the first two years.
- The proposed business must be in one of the following industries, which the YNP calls “strategic sectors” such as Information technology, Manufacturing, Value-added processing, Forestry
- Tourism products, attractions, services and facilities, Energy
- Mining or mineral development, Agriculture, Cultural industries
- Film and video production
Successful applicants receive support for a two-year work permit, to allow them time to establish their business and get settled with their families, if applicable. Candidates must complete the requirements of the program within two years in order to be eligible for nomination for permanent resident status.
